Lane Closure Systems

LANE CLOSURE SYSTEMS MANUAL AND AUTOMATIC

On motorways, on fast urban roads or in tunnels, lane closures often present major difficulties and may even compromise the safety of operational staff.
Manual or automatic lane-change signs provide a valuable alternative both in terms of safety and from the point of view of reactivity in the event of an incident.

For carrying out emergency repairs in the event of accidents or incidents and for undertaking maintenance or operational tasks, the use of lane-change barriers allows lanes to be closed very rapidly and ensures the safety of both road users and of those working on the road.

Carrying out lane closures

Lane-change signals are automatic and/or manual variable signalling devices which can be used to close a lane to traffic.

They are made up of a series of signs of illuminated signals which act as the approach signs, plus a series of barriers of increasing length which are designed to ensure that traffic actually changes lanes. When inactive they are folded along the safety barrier. When active they are deployed perpendicular to the direction of the traffic.

Innovation according to TTS

A new design barrier made of composite materials:

  • Effectiveness without compromising safety.
  • Completely rigid; no sagging.
  • Material which breaks on impact.
  • Exceptional UV resistance.
  • Multi-purpose composite bracket for all supports.
  • Retro-fitting of drive motors to manual barriers for automation.
  • Multiple communication interfaces (On/Off, RS232, RS485, Radio, 4G, 5G, IP, etc.).
  • Multiple protocols & languages (TEDI-LCR, TCP/IP, NTCIP, JBus, Modbus, etc.).
  • Transmission using carrier current.

A unique system

The barriers making up the lane-change system are ready installed, in posts on the central reservation or on the verge of the carriageway, usually fixed onto the safety barrier or behind it.
TTS offers a unique system which can be adapted to any type of location. A full range of supports means that our standard system can be installed on all known types of devices, such as metal safety rails, concrete rails, walls, low walls etc.
For special installations we offer our know-how and experience in the design of supports to meet the needs of the site.

A system that can grow

The TTS lane change system operates within a few seconds using an indexing pin, with no tools or keys being required.  Depending on how your project develops it may become necessary to automate your system.
For this reason our equipment is fully modular and as standard may be upgraded to automated or motorised mode.
This means that the Manual Lane-Change Barrier system (‘Biseau de Rabattement Manuel’ - BRM) can be easily transformed at any time into an automated system (‘Biseau de Rabattement Automatique’ - BRA) by the addition of a standard module.
